The
Lake Tibet Advisory Committee is proposing two tax budget amounts for 2020 for Lake
Tibet Park District No. 2, to be voted on by each household. This tax is
collected and held by the Town of Kent. The tax funds are managed by the Lake
Tibet Advisory Committee with the approval of the Kent Town Board.
The
Advisory Committee has established the following objectives for the park
district:
- Removal
of aquatic vegetation within the lake to increase the usability of the lake and
beach area;
- Beautification
of the common areas; and
- To
establish and maintain a greater sense of community for our residents.
To
achieve these objectives, there are two proposed tax budgets:
·
Budget
A for $15,000; and
·
Budget
B for $20,000.
For
comparison purposes, the individual household contribution for Budget A -
$15,000 would be approximately $225 and for Budget B - $20,000 would be
approximately $300 for a property assessed at $300,000.
These
lake association fees collected from the Lake Tibet residents will be used for
the following in 2020:
- Continued
lake management (e.g., aquatic vegetation removal via suctioning, hydro-raking, etc.) and associated permits;
- Continued lake monitoring (e.g., water quality sampling, assessment activities, etc.);
- Beach area construction and maintenance;
- Ongoing
landscaping in common areas; and
- Social
events.
The
projected expenditure total for 2020 is estimated to be approximately $40,000. Neither of the budgets will cover the
expenditures in 2020; however, monies from the current reserve will be used to
fund these expenditures. The higher
budget amount (Budget B for $20,000) will allow for the overall total funds of
Lake Tibet to be more replenished more quickly.
