Kent Biodiversity Inventory

The Town of Kent, with the support of the Town's Conservation Advisory Committee, signed the NYS Climate Smart Resolution earlier in 2020. As part of the Climate Smart Certification process, municipalities must have a Natural Resources Inventory (NRI).

As part of the NRI, a biodiversity inventory is being completed throughout Kent. You may have seen some folks on our lake this morning (September 16, 2020). This team is comprised of local naturalists who are conducting a biodiversity study on Lake Tibet.

Lake Tibet is proud to be included in this biodiversity assessment and eagerly looks forward to the completion of the NRI.

Lake News - May 2020

In these unprecedented times, we hope that our residents are staying safe, enjoying the warmer weather, and taking advantage of the lake, whether that's bird watching, fishing, or just taking a walk around it!

A few lake updates:
  • All community meetings and events have been postponed until further notice.
  • The Advisory Committee has submitted an application to the NYSDEC for hydro-raking targeted areas of the lake. The permit is under review and will hopefully be approved in a timely manner. If the permit is approved, we will move forward with hydro-raking in 2020 and will communicate with any residents who would like to have their waterfronts hydro-raked this year.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please reach out to

Scavenger Hunt!

In this challenging time, it is critical to bond together as a community to help us all weather this storm.

In that light, please join in on the "Teddy Bear/Rainbow Scavenger Hunt" to bring a welcome distraction to the kids in our community. Across the country, neighborhoods are joining in on the teddy bear and rainbow scavenger hunts. It's easy, just place a teddy bear or a rainbow (a simple drawing will do) in your window. Kids on walks with their families can "spy" the bears and rainbows and count how many they find. Feel free to report your kids' findings on the blog here! Please just remember to practice social distancing and do not encroach upon private property.

This is certainly a difficult time to navigate. If anyone needs any assistance, please reach out to the Advisory Committee at
